Functional Restoration Program

The Functional Restoration Program is an integrated, interdisciplinary program designed for individuals experiencing chronic pain and associated functional limitations. Chronic pain can affect multiple areas of a person’s life, including physical functioning, emotional well-being, sleep, activities of daily living, occupational functioning, and overall quality of life.

The program integrates psychological treatment with medical and rehabilitative services to address the physical, behavioral, emotional, and functional factors that can contribute to persistent pain and disability. Psychologists, physicians, rehabilitation professionals, and other members of the treatment team work collaboratively with the patient to establish individualized goals and promote active participation in the recovery process.

Treatment may focus on improving physical and psychological functioning, increasing participation in activities of daily living, strengthening pain-management and coping skills, reducing reliance on medication when clinically appropriate, decreasing pain-related distress and disability, and supporting a safe and sustainable return to work or other meaningful activities.

Rather than focusing exclusively on the elimination of pain, the functional restoration model emphasizes improving the patient’s ability to function effectively and engage more fully in daily life despite persistent symptoms.

The Functional Restoration Program is available through participating Healthpointe clinics throughout Southern California.
