The functional restoration program is an integrated, inter-disciplinary program that is focused on helping patients with chronic pain. Chronic pain is a very difficult condition that affects over 100 million people in the U.S. More than one million workers suffer back injuries each year and low back pain is currently the leading cause of occupational disability.
Within the functional restoration program, psychological services are integrated with physiotherapy and medical care. Providers work together with patients as a team to help patients achieve their treatment goals. Patient treatment goals in the functional restoration program include improving functioning, improving activities of daily living, decreasing medication, decreasing pain, decreasing suffering, and returning to work. The functional restoration approach has been shown to be successful in helping patients achieve these goals.
The Functional Restoration Program is located at Healthpointe clinics throughout Southern California.
